I spent years in unbelief, followed by years of searching for truth wherever that led, followed by a moment when I realized Jesus was my Savior and I transferred my trust to Him. Intellectually, the following is what that journey looked like:

THE TRUTH SEEKER’S CREED

Does God Exist?

If the laws of physics prove you can’t get something from nothing, I will live my life with that in mind.
If there is no logical way to span an infinite time in the past to get to the present, then space and time had to have a beginning point, and I will live my life with that in mind.
If a Being who transcends space and time, logically, had to be the one who created the universe and everything else in it, then I will live my life with that in mind.
If there is a God, I will live my life with that in mind.

What is the Character of God?

If God is the one and only all-powerful, all-knowing, all-good, Supreme Being, I will live my life with that in mind.
If God is all-powerful, He can perform miracles, and I will live my life with that in mind.
If God can carry out the miracle of making Himself known to me, I will live my life with that in mind.

Does God Communicate with Me?

If God can hear and answer my prayers, I will live my life with that in mind.
If one of the ways God chooses to communicate with me is through the written word, I will live my life with that in mind.
If the Bible is the Word of God, His love letter to us, I will live my life with that in mind.
If the Bible is intended by God to be read in the context in which it is presented, I will live my life with that in mind.
If God said sin and death came into this world through the fall (as referenced in the Book of Genesis), I will live my life with that in mind.
If the prophecies of the Bible are reliable and true, I will live my life with that in mind.

Who is Jesus?

If Jesus is the Son of God, as attested in the Word of God, I will live my life with that in mind.
If Jesus died on a cross for my sins, I will live my life with that in mind.
If Jesus resurrected so that I could have everlasting life, I will live my life with that in mind.
If faith alone in Christ alone is the only way to salvation, I will live my life with that in mind.

Who is the Holy Spirit?

If the Holy Spirit lives in me from the moment of my salvation, I will live my life with that in mind.
If I am undergoing a transformation of my soul in order to be conformed to the image of Christ, I will live my life with that in mind.
If I have the fruit of God’s Spirit in me (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control), I will live my life with that in mind.
If, whenever I abide in Christ, I live by the power of God’s Spirit in me, I will live my life with that in mind.

Where Will I Go When I Die?

If I will either spend eternity in Heaven with God or face judgement and eternal condemnation (Hell), depending on whether or not I transfer my trust to Jesus as my Savior, I will live my life with that in mind.
If God is all-powerful and all-loving, spending eternity with Him will be perfect and above and beyond my wildest imagination, and I will live my life with that in mind.

What Do I Do While I’m Here?

If I am a truth seeker, I will investigate the truths above with an open mind.
If I know by faith that Jesus is my Savior and that I belong to God, I will live my life with that in mind.
If Jesus is coming back for those who are His, I will live my life with that in mind.
If God calls me to encourage those who are His and to evangelize those who are not His, I will live my life with that in mind.
If God calls me to love Him and others well, I will live my life with that in mind.

With these truths in mind, I hope this encourages you to share The Truth Seeker’s Creed with someone today.
