I am a Georgia Bulldog football fan. To the chagrin (or indifference) of non-fans, two weeks ago, Georgia cruised to a resounding victory in the National Championship game – cruised, so much so that the outcome was no longer in doubt by the end of the first half. Final score: 65-7.
To those of you still here reading to the end, I want to share something God put on my heart about that game:
As God’s children, our outcome is also certain. Consider these encouraging verses: “With God we will gain the victory” (Ps 108:13a); “In all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us” (Rom 8:37); “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Cor 15:57); and “For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory” (Deut 20:4).
Since, as these verses make clear, our mighty God is fighting on our behalf, then the trials and sufferings we now experience as His children will, one day, all be gone—count on it!—and we will get to enjoy the celebration of our victory with Jesus. In other words, we already won the National Championship. Now let’s go finish the game.
I hope this encourages you to persevere through any struggles today.

Great message Kevin. This is the theme of the most recent chapter we studied in our small group from Louie Giglio’s book, “Don’t Give the Enemy a Seat at Your Table.” As believers, we are starting at victory, because Jesus already won the battle at the cross for us. Yes, we still have to fight temptations and trials in our lives, BUT, we start that fight with the victory already having been won by our Savior and Lord. Great message!
Thank you Joe! I knew you’d love that message, particularly since you’re as big a Georgia fan as I am.
Okay, Kevin… You got me! I was tipped over into this one, by the football teaser. But, God! What a message! Way to go, Holy Spirit in unctioning you to pen the encouragement that came next. Loved that! By the way, at Game Opener, I wanted the underdog, TCU to shock the world! But, after Coach Kirby Smart stared into the camera, first interview, I knew that my selection was not gonna as planned. And, it didn’t. Quickly! Now, I am all in. Concerning your blogs, Sir. Keep em coming. Love ya.
BIGB, Maybe I need to start with a football teaser every blog. It would get more “eyes on” that’s for sure. Love ya too, my man.
