The sun goes ‘round and ‘round and so do I. I rush to the east to meet the sun as it rises, to fulfill obligations and check off what is expected of me. But no matter how hard I try, I can never get there in time. The sun always beats me to the spot. So I follow its arc and charge to the west, clinging to other men’s dreams, not mine. Then I watch it all vanish, as the sun turns to fumes on a faraway hill.
The sun is fated to loop ‘round and ‘round, but I am not! Enough! I’m tired of trying to prove that I’m worthy of God’s love. Psalm 103:12 says, “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” And so I believe it. There is no direction I need to run to earn my heavenly Father’s love and acceptance. He already approves. My life is complete.
The world will continue to turn, but I don’t have to chase after the sun when it does. Tomorrow, when the sun comes up, I will remember this…again.
I hope this encourages you to rest in the finished work of Christ today.
